Of Quarns, Dragons and GannisterKings – An evening guided walk
The Upper Don Trail is a planned 23 km walking, cycling and horse riding trail from Sheffield centre to the Peak Park at Langsett of which two thirds are completed. Missing sections are being constructed or promoted at Oughtibridge and Deepcar.
This short guided walk by the Upper Don Trail Trust for Heritage Open Days starts with the recently opened new trail at Wharncliffe Park Deepcar. It will reveal the rich history of Deepcar and Stocksbridge by following parts of the Don and Little Don arms of the Trail from the new estate to Fox Valley and back, including pre-historic industry, legendary dragons, forgotten mines, plans for completing the trail and much more.
